A: Charlotte Nar-Anon Family Group members are relatives and friends who are concerned about the addiction or drug problem of another. Nar-Anon’s program of recovery is adapted from Narcotics Anonymous and uses Nar-Anon's Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts.
Q: What is a Nar-Anon Family Group?
A: The Charlotte Nar-Anon Family Group is for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation due to the addiction problem of someone close to them. Nar-Anon members share their experiences, strength, and hope at weekly meetings. These meetings last about 1 hour.
Q: How do I join Nar-Anon?
A: Joining is easy; just attend a meeting. There are no dues or fees. The only requirement for membership is that there is a problem of addiction in a relative or friend. Nar-Anon is not affiliated with any other organization or outside entity.
Q: What does it cost to be a member?
A: Nar-Anon has no dues or fees. Each group is self-supporting and collects donations that are used for local expenses such as room rent and supplies. Group and member donations support the Nar-Anon World Service Office.
Q: Is literature available?
A: Nar-Anon publications are based upon the shared experience of our membership and their application of Nar-Anon's principles to their lives. When you attend a Charlotte Nar-Anon Family Group meeting, you will find a variety of information that will help you navigate your personal situation. You will also find the invaluable experience of other local Charlotte Nar-Anon members, who are always willing to share their experience, strength, and hope to help you.
Q: Is professional help available?
A: The Charlotte Nar-Anon group is a non-professional fellowship whose members share their experience, strength, and hope to solve their common problems. We have learned to avoid standing in the way of the addict’s recovery. Nar-Anon is not a replacement for and does not provide professional treatment. Nar-Anon does cooperate with Narcotics Anonymous, recovery programs, and other organizations, but does not affiliate with or recommend them.
